Polygraph Testing
Since the early 1920’s the use of the Polygraph in its most basic form has since developed into a formidable investigative tool. Accuracy varies from technique to technique based on studies conducted by the American Polygraph Association.
The polygraph machine is used to record physiological responses created at or near the time of the response given by the person’s body when asked direct questions.
The polygraph test administered by a professionally trained polygraphist will ensure that the three phases of the test will provide an accurate reflection of the examinees physiological responses. This will give the polygraphist an informed opinion when the results are due.
Phase
one – Pretest phase:
In this phase report is created with the examinee ensuring that they
are medically and mentally able to do the test. A consent form is
signed and their rights discussed. The case facts are discussed and a
practice test is conducted after discussing all the questions. All
instrumentation is explained to the examinee before the test starts.
In-test
–
Phase:
In this phase numerous tests are conducted. The questions are asked in
a different order. Each test last approximately 5 minutes. All parts of
the test are video recorded.
Post
–Test
– Phase:
Following the in test phase the charts are scored using the numerical
scoring system. The results are given to the examinee and discussed
thereafter. If need be the case is taken further. The examinee signs
the post test consent stating that they have been treated fairly and
understood each part of the test, including all questions.
All tests go through a process of quality control should results be unclear. A report is generated and sent to the client within 24 hours of the test being conducted
